Book Freak 153: The Wisdom of Inner Growth
Finding Freedom Through Self-Healing in Yung Pueblo's "Inward"
Inward is a book of poetry by Yung Pueblo that emphasizes the importance of knowing ourselves deeply through self-observation, releasing emotional burdens by letting go of past attachments, cultivating selfless love in our relationships, and maintaining a consistent dedication to inner work and growth. It provides encouragement and wisdom for the challenging but rewarding path of self-healing.
Most of the poems are very short. Here are excerpts from four of the longer ones:
“ego makes us see the world through fearful illusions; it makes us give the same punishing treatment we give ourselves to other people.”
“there is great power in honoring the reality of our current emotions—not feeding them or making them worse but simply recognizing that this is what has arisen in this present moment and that this will also change.”
“we may worry, ‘how will i ensure that what i desire is met?’ a better question may be, ‘has solely focusing on meeting my desires truly brought me happiness?’”
“having a world built on competition has created a situation in which humanity is overflowing with misery—we thought we had to win, to harm each other to survive, but the moment we submitted ourselves to this scenario, we took a step away from our individual and collective freedom.”
